DELIVER is a European Industrial Doctorate programme coordinated by NUI Galway working to break insulin-dependency in juvenile diabetic patients. It provides training for 6 Early Stage Researchers in the field of advanced therapies for innovative pancreatic islet transplantation.
Advanced therapies are new medical products based on genes or cells, at times in symbiosis with medical devices. They herald revolutionary treatments for a number of chronic diseases including Alzheimer’s and cancer.
The DELIVER programme is a major interdisciplinary effort between cell biologists, experts in biomaterials, medical devices and advanced drug delivery, clinical experts and biotech and biomedical companies focused on academic training and spearheading innovative medical devices for insulin producing cell transplantation. In Tübingen, we are focused on the development of transplant biofunctionalization and device design.
